The Price Is Right
I Beloved,

While growing up, game shows dominated the television airways. These game shows primarily aired during weekdays, many game shows have stood the test of time and are still around today. One such show is the Price is Right. The show originally premiered over 50 years ago in 1972 and has aired over 10,000 episodes. It is the longest running game show in America and is one of the longest running series in U.S. television history.

The premise of the game requires contestants to guess the price of common consumer goods. The person who guesses the closest to the retail price, without going over, advances in the game. It would be difficult to find an adult in the country who is not familiar with the Price is Right.
Sadly enough, far to many Christians and non-Christians alike play the Price is Right with the inspired Word of God. Many are familiar with the Bible but only to the extent that they must guess at what God’s plan is for humanity. Some only know bits and pieces of the scripture, leading to erroneous ideas and misconceptions. Popular devotional apps are giving hope to thousands, but how would you know if a “church” uses Biblical practices if you’ve never read and studied what the Bible says?

Some contestants on the popular game show base their guesses on the guesses of other contestants. Let me ask you, should we base our religious preferences on what others do or say? Listen to the Lord Jesus, “not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in Heaven”. Do we really know the Father’s will for our lives? Or are we just guessing what He may want from us?

Finally, what happens to Price is Right contestant that doesn’t guess the correct price? They never advance, they don’t win the prize, and are literally thrown out of the game. In Matthew 7:22-23 the Bible says, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord did we not prophesy in the name, and drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, I never knew you, away from me you evil doers
