Colossians 3:12-15 (NKJV)

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long-suffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. Most people would agree that watch sports that Defense Wins Championships…Whether you watch basketball, football, boxing, softball, baseball, or hockey…Defense Wins Championships! In other words, the ability to prevent or stop the opposing team from scoring, causing injury, or making strives toward the opposing team territory will always win the game. Defense is often the part of any game that speaks about the prevention, push-back, and the prohibition of a perceived threat or attack. Without defense it is difficult to keep the opposition away from scoring. There are ok defenses, good defenses, and there are great defenses. If we consider the National Football League, we see that whenever a football game is played, there are 3 phases of the game. You have offense (those that are trying to score), special teams (the transition off possession of one team to another), defense (those that are trying to stop the score). Jesus said Luke 17:1 Then said He unto His disciples, “It is impossible but that offenses will come, but woe unto him through whom they come! By definition, the word defense means the action of defending from or resisting attack. Some similar words are words such as, protection, shield, safeguard, deny. Therefore, if you are on the defensive side, you neglect anything that tries to penetrate your territory. With that in mind, we must have the ability in our spiritual walk to be defensive against anything that tries to score, penetrate, or disrupt our ability to make it to heaven. Therefore, if you are on the defensive side, you neglect anything that tries to penetrate your territory. With that in mind, we must have the ability in our spiritual walk to be defensive against anything that tries to score, penetrate, or disrupt our ability to make it to heaven. Keep in mind that there is going to be attacks on your peace, tranquility, comfort, and solace. It is in our feelings that we become upset, ignored, and angry at EVERY offense. Jesus said offense is going to come…A man once said that Satan loves to hang around things that are beautiful. He desires to disrupt beautiful things to make them like him. So, if you have peace, he wants to destroy that. If you have love, he wants to destroy that. If you have compassion, he wants to destroy that. If you have forgiveness, he wants to destroy that.  If you have empathy or humility, he wants to destroy that. The apostle Paul says, Ephesians 6:11-13 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness in this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
